Our Philosophy

Wee Care is a place where:

Children are Valued

Children are valued for their sense of wonder, their genuine curiosity, their need to explore, and their natural desire to learn.

Families are Valued

Families are valued for the support they provide their children, for the partnerships they build with our staff, and for their willingness to entrust their children into our care.

Staff are Valued

Staff are valued for their ability to work together for the benefit of the children, to promote positive relationships with individual children and their families, and for their commitment to continual program evaluation and professional development.

Wee Care staff strive to:

  • Encourage children to explore, solve problems, gain confidence, build friendships, and use the toys and tools around them to think critically.
  • Support children’s need for creative expression and increased independence.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment for children and an open dialogue and partnership with parents.

History of Wee Care

The Wee Care Center has offered childcare solutions for student parents since 2001. Originally, our services were offered in a small center off 400 West. As UVU continued to grow, it became clear that the Wee Care Center needed to expand as well.

In 2010, President and Mrs. Holland recognized that the need for services provided by the Wee Care Center had significantly outpaced the current facility. President and Mrs. Holland began sharing the stories of student parents with community members and hosting events with the hope of raising private funds for expansion.

The community responded with generous gifts, and on September 27, 2013, the Barbara Barrington Jones Family Foundation Wee Care Center officially opened its doors. Today, in its state-of-the-art facility, the Wee Care Center is a haven for the children of UVU student parents. While these parents are pursuing a better life through education, they know their children are being cared for in a warm, inviting, and nurturing environment.
