“Investing your time into college can only improve your life and your opportunities for your future.”

“This is the right place to be,” Briawna (Bri) Simkins, Concurrent Enrollment’s Event and Outreach Manager at Utah Valley University (UVU) has said of her time in Concurrent Enrollment.

Born and raised in Draper, Utah, Bri began her college education at UVU immediately after high school graduation. Starting out studying social work, she later changed her major and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science with an emphasis in family studies in 2014. As a student, Bri worked in the UVU bookstore until 2016. She then worked at UVU One Stop on campus — a help desk where students could receive assistance with financial aid and student accounts.

For a year Bri, then worked at the Cashier’s office on campus, handling money and processing payments and scholarships. She then spent five years in the College of Health and Public Services in the Department of Health as an administrative assistant. In this capacity, Bri helped students solve problems with scheduling and classes.

While attending college, Bri met her husband. The same year she graduated with her bachelor’s degree, she also tied the knot with him. This year, she and her husband will celebrate 10 years of marriage. They have accomplished much individually and together, including having and raising two little boys.

One of Bri’s individual accomplishments has been moving to Concurrent Enrollment in 2023 and becoming the Event and Outreach Manager. In this position, she travels to high schools to meet students, share Concurrent Enrollment benefits, and plan events that help bring high school students to the UVU campus.

Bri said Concurrent Enrollment benefits high school students by saving them time and money. “They are saving time and money for themselves to be able to advance in a college setting while also being in a high school setting.” She continued, “Investing your time into college can only improve your life and your opportunities for your future.”

When asked why Bri enjoys doing her job, this is what she said, “Just knowing that I am able to make a difference every day in the job that I do — whether it’s one student, 10 students, or 90 students — just knowing that I get to make an impact on students. I love my job! My job is so fun!”

Bri has definitely made an impact on us here at Concurrent Enrollment, and we are grateful to see how she impacts all Wolverines!
