Concurrent Enrollment Celebrates Our Coordinators

Concurrent Enrollment Celebrates Our Coordinators

“This event is about coming together to celebrate another record-breaking academic year that resulted in 17,000 high school students earning college credit and saving their families millions of dollars. It’s also a way to honor the collective effort of our coordinators and facilitators."

On May 7, 2024, Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Concurrent Enrollment coordinators and facilitators gathered at UVU Main Orem Campus to attend the annual End of Year Training and Celebration, planned and executed by Alison and her amazing team.

“This event is about coming together to celebrate another record-breaking academic year that resulted in 17,000 high school students earning college credit and saving their families millions of dollars. It’s also a way to honor the collective effort of our coordinators and facilitators. Their dedication and hard work make a profound difference, not only in the lives of our CE students but also in shaping a brighter future for our entire community,” says Alison Jensen, Utah Valley University’s (UVU) Director of Enrollment Services in the Concurrent Enrollment department.

Though this event provided time to train and prepare the coordinators for what is going to be coming in the following year, Alison Jensen made it clear that, more than anything, this event was a time to celebrate Concurrent Enrollment’s coordinators and facilitators. Two groups of spectacular people that Concurrent Enrollment would not be able to function without.

The facilitators arrived first that morning to attend a Live Interactive Training session, but then joined all the coordinators for a breakfast provided by UVU Catering. This first part of the conference was reserved for the whole group to receive updates, announcements, and to celebrate together. This included celebrating the record-breaking number of students that were enrolled this previous school year, showcasing previous Concurrent Enrollment student’s testimonies, and premiering the department’s newest commercial.

Time was also dedicated to congratulating the coordinators and facilitators who have been with Concurrent Enrollment the longest. These individuals were given Concurrent Enrollment Years of Service Coins, beginning with five years and going up to thirty years. A thirty-year service coin was also awarded to Elizabeth Warner, Concurrent Enrollment’s schedular.

Following this general session, the attendees split into groups and attended smaller sessions with their assigned Enrollment Counselor and Academic Advisor. Allowing space to discuss transcripts, test scores, and plans for helping students to earn their General Education Certificate or associate degree if that is the high school student’s goal.

The event ended with several games of bingo where coordinators and facilitators won prizes such as a karaoke machine, a mini fridge, and an ice machine, with lunch by UVU Catering. Before leaving, the coordinators were given the new signs to be placed above every Concurrent Enrollment classroom in their high schools, letting students know that room is a place where they can get ahead in their future.

This May 7th event provided room for coordinators and facilitators to receive necessary training and announcements, but more importantly, it gave time for Concurrent Enrollment to express their utmost gratitude to this wonderful group of people who have put so much time and effort into the success of their students.

Sandra Ozuna, an Enrollment Counselor, said of the event,

“We had a fantastic time bringing our Concurrent Enrollment coordinators and facilitators to the UVU campus to celebrate the end of the school year. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognize their hard work and dedication to their high school students. Thank you for being such great partners to UVU CE!”

As Alison said, “Their dedication and hard work make a profound difference, not only in the lives of our CE students but also in shaping a brighter future for our entire community.” We are grateful for the green running in the veins of this great group!
